What to fix first, and why

Merit Electric's Google rating sits below 4.0, and that number does real work against it — searchers treat sub-4.0 as a warning sign and scroll past, even before reading a word about the actual work. The profile doesn't appear in the map results for the searches Spokane customers run most, and a rating in that range is a structural reason why. The homepage also carries more than one H1, which splits Google's read on what the page is about and weakens the ranking signal for any single term. The strong move right now is to go back through the negative reviews, address the specific patterns directly, and build a steady stream of recent positive reviews to shift that rating above the threshold where searchers stop hesitating.

What to Fix, in Order

Most costly first. Every fix is written out in full.

Fix first1

  1. The Google rating is under 4.0.

The fix: Address the patterns in your negative reviews directly, then increase volume of recent positive reviews.

Why it matters · for your developer

Under 4.0 reads as a warning in the map results. Searchers scroll past it, even when the work is good.

Google Business Profile. Google rating is 3.8/5: Average rating below 4.0 hurts the local-pack click-through dramatically.

Next1

  1. The homepage has more than one main heading.

The fix: Keep only one H1; convert the rest to H2/H3 as appropriate.

Why it matters · for your developer

Several H1s blur the page's topic. One clear heading tells Google what to rank the page for.

Page basics. Multiple H1 tags (3): Multiple H1s dilute heading hierarchy and confuse crawlers.
