What to fix first, and why

Palmer Construction has strong reviews relative to other Spokane roofing businesses, but Google isn't seeing enough structured signals to surface it in map or web results. The most direct cause: the site carries no LocalBusiness structured data, so Google can't confirm its hours, services, or service area without guessing — and it defaults to the listings that do spell those things out. The homepage also has no main heading, which compounds the problem because neither Google nor a visitor can immediately confirm what the business does or where. Start by adding a LocalBusiness schema entity with full name, address, phone, hours, and service area to the homepage.

What to Fix, in Order

6 fixes · free to read

Most costly first. Every fix is written out in full.

Fix first3

The site's structured data doesn't describe a local business.
LocalBusiness structured data spells out the hours, services and service area for Google. Without it, Google leans on the listings that do.
The fix: Add a LocalBusiness or category-specific subtype (Restaurant, Dentist, etc.) entity with full NAP.
Why it matters · for your developerFor your developer
LocalBusiness structured data spells out the hours, services and service area for Google. Without it, Google leans on the listings that do.
Business info for Google. No LocalBusiness schema: JSON-LD is present but no LocalBusiness (or subtype) entity is declared. Local pack ranking relies on this.
The homepage has no main heading.
The main heading (the H1) tells Google and visitors what the page is about. Without one, both have to guess.
The fix: Add a single descriptive H1 to the page with the primary keyword.

The main heading (the H1) tells Google and visitors what the page is about. Without one, both have to guess.
Page basics. No H1 tag on page: Every page should have exactly one H1.
The site is slow on a phone.
Most local searches happen on phones. A slow load loses visitors before the page appears.
The fix: Compress images, defer non-critical JS, and serve from a CDN. Focus on Largest Contentful Paint.

Why it matters · for your developer
Google's Lighthouse test runs an SEO checklist on every page. The failing items are straightforward points to collect.
Speed & Google checklist. Lighthouse SEO score below 90: Lighthouse SEO checks failing — score is 85/100.

When there's time2

The page title is 26 characters, too short to say much.
The fix: Rewrite the page title to land between 30 and 65 characters with the primary keyword and location.
Why it matters · for your developer
A short title says little about what the business does or where. A clear title of 30 to 65 characters earns the click.
Page basics. Title tag is too short (26 chars): Titles should be 30–65 characters to display fully in search results.
5 of 31 images on the homepage have no text description.
The fix: Add descriptive alt text to content images. Use empty alt='' only for decorative images.
Why it matters · for your developer
Alt text feeds image search and screen readers. The missing ones are reach left on the table.
Page basics. 5 of 31 images missing alt text: Alt text helps both accessibility and image search ranking.
