What to Fix, in Order
9 fixes · free to read
Most costly first. Every fix is written out in full.
Fix first4
The homepage asks Google not to list it.
The fix: Remove noindex from the homepage's robots meta tag or X-Robots-Tag header. On WordPress, untick Settings > Reading > "Discourage search engines from indexing this site", a setting often left on after launch.
Why it matters · for your developerFor your developer
A noindex instruction keeps the page out of search results, so nothing else on it can help it rank. It's often a launch setting that was never switched off.
Page basics. Homepage is set to noindex: A robots meta tag or X-Robots-Tag header on the homepage tells Google not to index it, so it can't appear in search results.
The homepage has no structured data.
The fix: Add a LocalBusiness JSON-LD block with NAP (name, address, phone), opening hours, and primary category.
Why it matters · for your developerFor your developer
Structured data states the name, address and services in a form Google reads directly. Without it, Google infers them, and it trusts the listings it's sure about.
Business info for Google. No structured data (JSON-LD) on page: Google relies on structured data to understand local business information.
No meta description, so Google writes the search preview.
The fix: Add a unique meta description summarizing the page. Include the city and primary service.
Why it matters · for your developerFor your developer
Without one, Google grabs page text for the two lines under the link. A written one says what the business does and where.
Page basics. Missing meta description: The page has no <meta name="description"> tag.

Fix firstcontinued
Google's own page checklist flags issues.
The fix: Review the PSI report for failing audits: title presence, meta description, crawlable links, valid hreflang.
Why it matters · for your developerFor your developer
Google's Lighthouse test runs an SEO checklist on every page. The failing items are straightforward points to collect.
Speed & Google checklist. Lighthouse SEO score below 90: Lighthouse SEO checks failing — score is 54/100.
Next2
16 of 31 images on the homepage have no text description.
The fix: Audit content images and add descriptive alt text. Use empty alt='' only for decorative images.
Why it matters · for your developer
Alt text tells Google and screen readers what an image shows. Without it, those images add little in image search.
Page basics. 16 of 31 images missing alt text: Image alt coverage is below 70%.
No sitemap.
The fix: Generate a sitemap.xml and reference it in robots.txt. Most CMSes have a plugin for this.
Why it matters · for your developer
A sitemap lists every page so Google finds them quickly. Without one, deeper pages can wait weeks to be indexed.
Crawlability. No sitemap.xml: Sitemaps tell Google which pages exist and when they changed.
When there's time3
The page title is 71 characters, more than search results show.
The fix: Rewrite the page title to land between 30 and 65 characters with the primary keyword and location.
Why it matters · for your developer
Past about 65 characters, Google cuts the title off in results. A clear title of 30 to 65 characters earns the click.
Page basics. Title tag is too long (71 chars): Titles should be 30–65 characters to display fully in search results.
Shared links show no preview.
The fix: Add og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url meta tags to the page <head>.
Why it matters · for your developer
Pasted into a text or a Facebook post, the link shows as a bare URL. A title and image get more clicks.
Page basics. No Open Graph meta tags: Open Graph tags control how the page appears when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
Links shared on X show no preview card.
The fix: Add twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description, twitter:image meta tags.
Why it matters · for your developer
A card with a headline and image earns more clicks than a bare link.
Page basics. No Twitter Card meta tags: Twitter Card tags control share previews on X/Twitter.
